The sewing lab has been busy in thr FCS room 3rd quarter! Eighth grade FCS finished their quarter by creating striped and square pillows as a sewn accessory to their final unit in Home and Design. Throughout the quarter, we discussed the career skills we were developing with each unit or project in the FCS room. In our final project we used problem solving skills when something didn't go according to the plan. We used creativity in choosing colors and designs for our pillows. We practiced interpersonal and citizenship skills in rotating through stations and aiding others in stations we already mastered. We learned new technology skills using various equipment in the sewing lab and demonstrated proper usage of those items.
Intro to FCS also created Fabric Buckets 3rd quarter as part of their Interior Design unit. High schoolers and middle schoolers filled out self evaluations each week, reviewing their time management, daily progress, and proper use of career ready skills to create their projects.
FCS focuses on project based learning in action practicing skills used in future careers.
