Elwood juniors and seniors have the option of taking college classes through Central Community College during periods that they don't have core classes. Kilah Oaklund, Elwood guidance counselor, explained the benefits of offering college classes to high school students. She pointed out that college classes are only half the normal cost during high school. This could really help students who want to enter college ahead of the game or who will be paying for college themselves.
Steven Duran (a college speech student in high school) commented that he found the class to be pretty easy and said it is worth doing ahead of time. Duran said it is a great choice, as the class allows students to get a head start on college credits.
