The One Act team has started their season with Dennis Seberger leading the team again. He has written a new version of a story called “The Monkey’s Paw;” many cast members were familiar with this story but Seberger put his own special twist on it. With the team competing in the RPAC for the first time they look to have a good season.
The team has eighteen students out currently, with twelve of them taking part on stage acting and six working behind the scenes to make the production come to life. This is a smaller-sized team than in recent years but the one act team is making the most of it.
Like any activity, the one-act team faces some challenges this season.
“The big challenge is going to be for the actors to act,” explained Seberger. “It is a challenging thing to remember that lines are only words if you don’t include emotion, pacing, body language, and inflection.”
While there are challenges, the team also has some good strengths throughout the cast.
“This year, all of our cast members have really shown that they want to be there and that they want to succeed; that is our biggest strength,” said Seberger.
With such a dedicated group of students out for one act this year, the team looks to have a competitive season. However, winning awards is not the only goal Seberger has for the team this season.
“My goal is always to coach our cast and crew to a point where they can put on a good performance that the audience enjoys,” Seberger said.
