As the 6th graders stay busy here are a few updates on what’s going on in their classroom!

Some skills in language arts that they are working on are understanding the author's point of view in nonfiction writing, along with writing their own fictional narrative. During math they are learning how to find the rates and percentages of a ratio, and they are using skills or reading through primary and secondary sources for social studies during their weekly topics.

Fun activities planned for the rest of the school year are their AR party and end of the year activities that the students are excited about.

Sixth grade teacher Ashlynd McGuigen shared one of her classroom goals: to help improve her classroom management skills.

“As a 6th grade class, we are working on the goal to get in the mindset for junior high next year,” Mrs McGuigen said.

One of the challenges the 6th graders face is being overly competitive with one another.

“The 6th graders this year are an energetic bunch and creative!” commented McGuigen.

As the 6th graders get ready to go into junior high, they continue to work hard and are learning to prepare themselves for junior high.

“They have taught me a lot about my teaching style throughout the year as a first year teacher,” said McGuigen.
