preschool news

Preschool students are developing important early literacy skills, such as identifying letters, matching letters to sounds, and writing their full names with the correct formation (top to bottom, left to right). They are also practicing rhyming and breaking words into syllables, which are essential for learning to read. Many students are making great progress with these skills!

Each day, the class participates in a “Question of the Day” activity. A question related to the current unit (right now, buildings) is written on the board, with each word spelled by a different student. This helps them recognize letters, practice writing, and learn about punctuation.

In addition to academics, preschool students are learning about safe and unsafe situations, how to be kind to others, and the basic rules of school. These social and emotional skills are just as important as academic learning, helping students feel secure and ready to learn.

This preschool class is full of kind, caring, and eager kiddos. It will be exciting to see how they continue to grow throughout their time at Elwood Public Schools!
