The following is an interview with some of our new staff by members of the journalism class.
Julia Fiene, Amy Hanson, and Terri Wilder
Students are seeing three new faces at the Elwood public schools cafeteria: Terri Wilder, Julia Fiene, and Amy Hanson. These ladies shared about themselves in a recent interview.
Q: What brings you to Elwood Public Schools?
Terri: Working with children and finding a job close to home
Amy and Julia: Becky Fagot brought me to Elwood Public Schools
Q: What are you looking forward to most this school year?
Terri: Pleasing the kids with good food.
Amy: Learning all the kids’ names.
Julia: Being around all the kids.
Q: What are your favorite hobbies?
Terri: Camping, reading, and sewing.
Amy: Baking, animal rescue.
Julia: Playing piano, golfing, and swimming.
Q: What was your favorite high school experience?
Terri: State basketball.
Amy: Competing at state track.
Julia: Watching the volleyball games.
Q: What is your advice for high school students?
Terri: Learn all you can.
Amy: Don’t forget to have fun
Julia: Have fun and learn all you can.
Q: What is it like starting at a new school with the pandemic?
Terri, Amy, and Julia: It is hard to see the kids because of the mask.
Q: Where did you grow up?
Terri: I grew up in Gothenburg.
Amy: I grew up in Elwood.
Julia: I grew up in Elwood.
Q: What extracurricular activities did you participate in?
Terri: Basketball, weights, and choir.
Amy: Volleyball, basketball, track, and choir.
Julia: Choir.
Here are some more interesting things about the three new cooks. Terri has 13 grandchildren in counting!
Amy is a 28 year retired military, and she has a son that is a registered nurse. Julia has 2 girls that attend Elwood Public Schools. Elwood schools welcomes Terri, Amy, and Julia to the lunchroom team.
