Whitney Dickau, junior at Elwood Public Schools, recently competed at the State Cross Country meet for the Hi-Line Bulls. With many cheering her on, she took the time to give insight about her adventure to state. Along with pursuing her passion for running, she enjoys it because it challenges her physically and mentally. Dickau shared that her biggest supporter is her mom. “She has been there cheering me on through all of the pain. She never gives up on me if I have a bad race, and she always tells me how to learn from it and move on,” said Dickau. With having much experience with running through her three years of competing at state level, her advice for new or upcoming runners is, “Don’t be afraid to try new things and just because the workout says five miles, it’s really not that bad once you find your pace. Just never give up and keep setting new goals for yourself.”
