FFA News

The FFA season is rolling around; Elwood's FFA is led by Maggie Louthan. FFA members have been attending competitions, having meetings and planning for upcoming events. They recently held a Labor Auction and it was awesome to see so many community members come out to support our FFA chapter.

“We have competed in Ag biotechnology, Vet Science, Farm Business Management, SAE Proficiency, Ag Demonstration, Job Interview, Extemporaneous, Agronomy, Floriculture, Natural Resources, Livestock Judging, and Range Judging,” says Ms. Louthan. “Our Natural Resources team got second overall with Whitney Dickau as the individual champion. That qualified them for State FFA. The rest of the competitions we got really close and were one or two places from qualifying for state. Most of the competitions only take the top two teams, so it has been really close this year.” FFA has competitions coming up at the end of February and March that will hopefully qualify more teams for state.

February 21 is the beginning of FFA week; members will have a lot of fun activities that the whole school can participate in. Our season will wrap up April 6-8 in Lincoln at the State FFA Convention. Best of luck to the FFA members in the remaining season and to the state qualifying teams!
