As the Hi-Line golf team looks toward another season, Coach Dennis Seberger has plenty of goals as well as some expectations for the year. With 16 golfers vying for the varsity positions, members will have to be competitive for those five positions.

As with any team, the golf team will face some challenges this season. Seberger said continuous improvement will be among the team’s biggest challenges.

“Not getting complacent with their abilities and being able to continue to improve will be a big step,” explained Seberger. He also remarked that the weather is never very helpful during the spring season and may throw a wrench in the golf team's plans at times.

Seberger stated that the biggest strengths for the team will be the inter-competition between golfers. The team has brought back all five varsity golfers from last year and have additions of multiple very capable underclassmen who may be in a position to take over those spots.

According to Seberger, a goal for the season is to be playing to the level they know they are capable of. He explained that if he loses a meet, he wants it to be from better competition elsewhere, not a lack of execution from within.

Seberger offered some advice for any golfers that are looking to join the team or are on the team currently. He said to continue practicing outside of the season.

”The majority of improvement in the sport comes from the offseason and with the limited practice time allotted for the team. Taking advantage of personal time will be crucial to continue their success and development,” said Seberger.
