The 2020-21 basketball season is just around the corner. Girls basketball’s head coach- Patrick Ropers says that this season is full of potential..
“I am looking forward to seeing what this group of girls can do. We have a lot of younger girls with a lot of talent and I am excited to see what we can do with that,” said Ropers. He also mentioned that their toughest competition this year will be Pleasanton and Overton.
“When a state champion comes back with all five of their starters, that is a hard team to beat,”explained Coach Ropers. When asked what he thought the biggest challenge would be this year, Ropers responded, , “We have two challenges this year- 1. Finding a consistent point guard and 2. We don’t have a lot of height on our team. We are gonna be a short team so we are gonna have to play aggressive.”
Coach Ropers’s favorite part about coaching is the prep of getting the team ready to play and seeing players improve off of the coaching he provides. He loves seeing players work hard and become successful. Ropers also answered the dreaded question of how basketball will be affected by COVID-19: “Right now we don’t really know what’s going to happen with the season. Masks might be a full-time thing and the number of fans will be affected. I just really hope we can have a full season but to do that we might have to adjust along the way.”
Sounds like this season is going to be pretty promising. Good Luck Bulls!
